Demo — Voice AI
Voices.
Type a line, choose a voice and hear it read. The speech is made in this page by a small open model: what you type isn’t sent anywhere, and the audio isn’t kept.
Checking what this device can run…
How it works
From letters to a voice, a sentence at a time.
Text goes in; speech comes out of your own speakers, made on your device. The first sentence plays while the next is being made.
You type
Hello, and welcome to Friendify.
Step 1
Words to sounds
Each word is looked up in open British dictionaries, with our own list for names like Friendify.
həlˈQ, and wˈɛlkəm tə fɹˈɛndɪfI
Dictionaries · instant
Step 2
Sounds to speech
Kokoro, an open voice model, turns the sounds into audio in the voice and speed you chose.
2.9 seconds of speech
Kokoro · 82M parameters
Step 3
Play while making the next
The sentence plays at once; the next is made while you listen.

The voices
Six of twenty-eight.
The open model has twenty-eight English voices, American and British. The demo loads six, to keep the download small. For clients we choose voices from more than thirty production voices, and tune the pronunciation of their names, products and places.
It reads English only, and it can trip over a name it hasn’t met: open “How it was read” under a sentence to see the sounds it chose, and which words it had to guess.
About this demo
Small on purpose.
The demos here download 50 MB to 1.0 GB: small enough to fit into a web page and run on your own device, with nothing sent to us or to an AI company. Your browser keeps the files, so a second visit starts from that copy.
They do a great deal for their size, and they make mistakes a larger model wouldn’t. What we build for clients uses larger models where they’re needed, the client’s own data and words, testing before launch, and a person to hand over to.
The files stay in your browser until you remove them, or the browser needs the space. Removing them here clears every demo’s models from this device; a demo downloads its own again if you load it.
