Is this because Friendify wants my ID?
No. Friendify uses the least intrusive mature-access check we can. We use Yoti or an equivalent provider only where stronger age assurance is required for mature or NSFW content.
What does Friendify store?
For self-declaration, Friendify stores the adult confirmation timestamp, policy version, and coarse region. For Yoti, Friendify stores the adult status, verification reference, method, timestamp, and coarse region needed to unlock mature content.
Does Friendify see my document or face data?
No. If Yoti is required, Yoti handles the provider verification flow. Friendify stores only the result and minimal metadata needed for mature access.
Why can another user just confirm 18+ while I must verify?
The gate depends on the user's apparent region and applicable law. Some countries or US states require stronger age assurance, while other regions allow a simple 18+ confirmation.
Do you block VPNs?
No. Friendify does not add a VPN blocking rule for mature access. If a country or state cannot be determined, the policy defaults to the configured unknown-region action.
What happens if my location is wrong?
Contact [email protected] with your account email, the route where you saw the gate, and the approximate time. Do not send passwords, ID images, or unnecessary sensitive data to support.
Can I still use SFW features?
Yes. SFW features still work. Mature access is separate, so the rest of the app remains available while mature access is pending, unavailable, or blocked in a region.
