Meanings come from this genre's invented word list, made for the generator: they aren't real-world etymology.
Openings borrow from the sky and the lab: Astr, Cass, Nov, Rig, Ves, Xen, Zeph. The vowels after them are bright and open, the consonants crisp, and a liquid l or r keeps each result from becoming a mouthful.
In the generator's own glossary Nov is a new star, Rig a blue giant, Zeph the solar wind and Xen a stranger. Endings add the rest: -eska means frozen, -eus endless, -arn iron-cored. None of it comes from a real language; it was written to make names that feel like coordinates.
Unlike most packs, the surnames here aren't English words. They join syllables (Vor, Hel, Cyr, then dris, quor, loris, then -ix, -on or -yr), so a family name reads like a registry code or the name of the outpost where someone was born.
The hand-picked examples are first names only, Astraea, Rigel, Corvan and Elyra among them, which suits crews who go by one name on deck.
For a human crew, keep the length short and the tone soft or elegant: two syllables anyone could shout during an emergency. For a species from far away, try long names on the chaotic tone, which brings zael, krex and vyr.
A crew of six reads better when no two names share a first letter. Use the letter filter to fill the gaps, and keep the ones that still sound clear when you say them quickly.
Hand-picked names first, then more from the generator, each with how to say it and what its parts mean.
